Get Married in Bali

Marriage under Indonesian law is performed by religious minister and the catatan sipil (Civil Registrar) or by the Kantor Urusan Agama (Directorate of Islamic Religion Affairs). To be legally married in Indonesia, couples follow one of these five religions with the religious ceremony based on the couples’ religion. Indonesia recognizes five religions Protestant, Catholic, Hindu, Moslem and Buddhist.

There will be two certificates presented at the end of ceremony, one from the religious register and the other, from the civil register.

General requirements:

* Widower must present a copy of death certificate of the former spouse. If there has been a divorce, the decree must present a copy of divorced certificate.
* Letter of No Impediment from Consulate General within Indonesia certifying that the couple has no objection to getting marriage in Indonesia.
* Copy of Birth certificate
* Copy of passport
* 8 Pieces of photo size 4 x 6 (groom in the right side)
* Other requirements according to Indonesia marriage laws

Foreign couples are required to supply us with photocopies of such documents as bride & groom birth certificates, details page of bride & groom passports & 2 witnesses, divorce or death certificate if relevant and photos of the couple standing together that will appear on the couple’s wedding certificates. All documents are required to be submitted to us prior to their ceremony taking place so the relevant lodgments can be made on behalf of the couple.

For Indonesian Citizens wanting to get married in Bali they will need to supply photocopies of KTP Card, KK Card, birth certificate, divorce or death certificate if relevant and depending on the religious ceremony they choose either photographs of the couple standing together or in the case of a Moslem Wedding Ceremony individual photos of the couple prior to their wedding ceremony taking place.

Please note if a couple choose to undertake Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu and Moslem Legal Wedding Ceremony further documentation will need to be provided to us with additional documentation relevant to the chosen religious ceremony, with all required documentation provided to us prior to the wedding ceremony taking place.

Proof that the couple are free to marry is also required to be applied for by those couples wanting to get married in Bali with a legal wedding ceremony and for foreign couples undertaking a legal wedding ceremony, application is required to be made for “Certificate of No Impediment” or similar document at the couples consulate in Bali and supporting documentation will also be required to be submitted with each nationality having its own specific requirements and procedures. If the couple’s consulate is not represented in Bali then relevant information will be provided on how application should be made. Application should be made no more than 3 months in advance of the wedding ceremony taking place with the original presented to us prior to the ceremony to enable presentation to relevant parties.
Civil Wedding

The civil ceremony will be conducted by Indonesian Government Registry Officials and will be presented on a certificate issued by the Civil Registrar. This Bali wedding package is suitable for those couple who have married before somewhere else. We are professionally arranging detail elements of civil wedding into a package which is including:

* Copy of passport (both partners)
* Copy of birth certificate (both partners)
* Copy of decree absolute if you have been marriage before
* Copy of passport of two witnesses (we can be your witnesses)
* Copy certificate of marriage from ministry of religion
* Widower must present a copy of death certificate of the former spouse.
* Fill in the booking form, wedding arrangement form and civil form
* 4 pieces of photograph size 4 x 6 ( the groom in the right side)
* Letter of No Impediment to marriage which is legalized by representative embassy or consulate in Bali/ Indonesia, certifying that the couple has no objection to getting married in Indonesia.
Religion Wedding Ceremony
Moslem Wedding Ceremony

A moslem wedding ceremony called akad nikah is conducted by a Minister called Penghulu. At the end of this ceremony the newly wed couple will receive certificates called Buku Nikah issued by Moslem Court called KUA (Directorate of Islamic Religion Affairs). The religious wedding ceremony is able to hold in hotel/villa or venue or either in the KUA or Mosque. Witnesses during the ceremony are required and the main one must be a father of a bridegroom or his representative and the other one could be a sibling, relative or friend.

Documents required:
* Copy of Passport (both partners if foreigners)
* Copy of KTP for Indonesian Citizen
* Copy of Birth Certificate (both partners)
* Copy of divorce certificate (if applicable)
* Copy of death certificate of former spouse (if applicable)
* Letter from Moslem Priest in your country addressed to Moslem Priest in Bali declaring that this couple is free to get married
* If father of the bride is a moslem, he will be the Wali Nikah of this ceremony
* If father of the bride is a non-moslem, he should make a letter declaring that his part will be taken by Wali Hakim
* 4 pieces photograph size 2×3 (both partners)
* 4 pieces photograph size 3×4 (both partners)
Protestant Wedding Ceremony

Protestant blessing ceremony is led by a Priest. The presence of two witnesses is also mandatory in this religious wedding. Witnesses may be your friend or relatives (no siblings, children or parents), or witnesses provided by our office. The wedding ceremony is able to conduct in a church or the priest is also able to come to hotel/villa or venue.

* Copy of KTP for Indonesian Citizen
* Copy of Birth Certificate (both partners)
* Copy of divorce certificate (if applicable)
* Copy of death certificate of former spouse (if applicable)

Budha Wedding Ceremony

Protestant blessing ceremony is led by a Priest. The presence of two witnesses is also mandatory in this religious wedding. Witnesses may be your friend or relatives (no siblings, children or parents), or witnesses provided by our office. The wedding ceremony is able to conduct in a church or the priest is also able to come to hotel/villa or venue.

* Copy of divorce certificate (if applicable)
* Copy of death certificate of former spouse (if applicable)

Hindu Wedding Ceremony

Hindu wedding ceremony has a series of a very interesting purification ceremony with a procession to call on the bride by the bridegroom to go to the place of ceremony. It is then followed by a natab ceremony, i.e. a holy water ceremony provided by the pemangku or priest to cleanse the bride and bridegroom before entering a new life. The procession proceeds with a metanjung sambuk ritual (to step over the offerings and coconut fibres) and to pray with the aim to beseech for safety, health, happiness and a bright future for the newlyweds. Each step of the ceremony is full of meanings and symbols.
Couples wishing to have a unique and an unforgettable experience could certainly try this ceremony, merely with the aim to have a blissful marriage and not a lawful marriage since no documents or whatsoever letters are required and at the end of this ceremony no letters are to be issued.
Catholic Wedding Ceremony

Catholic wedding is religious wedding is led by Catholic Priest. In fact, Catholic wedding ceremony will require much paper works and both partner must be single status, since Catholic Church is not allowed for divorced person to remarry except if the former spouse is not Catholic. The priest is able to come to hotel/villa or venue to lead the wedding ceremony or we can arrange your religious wedding ceremony in the preferable church.

* Letter from Parish Priest Church official declaring that the person is free to get married (Original)
* Letter from Parrish Priest in your country delegating this ceremony is to be taken care by Catholic Church in Bali (Original)
* Original pre-nuptial certificate and pre-nuptial course
* Passport copy of 2 witnesses
